Poetry and life go hand in hand; neither can truly be understood, but both are greatly adored.

"A Matter of Importance"

First poem I have written in awhile. 3/1/15

"A Matter of Importance"

A silent moment to pierce the blazing light.
A gentle moment to fall steady into the mind.
A peaceful time to ask about one’s thought.
A dangerous time where sanity is well bought—
By the questions of that which was and is.
So easily consumed and forget to live.

"A Life Like Tear Drops from the Sky"

Newest poem - another Sonnet. 10/13/14

Sonnet IV
"A Life Like Tear Drops from the Sky"

Meet me where the heavens cry.
Where the skies break free,
And where our souls collide—
To the beauty that is eternity.
Find me where the trees stay green,
And the birds sing the song—
Songs like you’ve never seen.
That is where we can do no wrong.
Follow me to the setting sun.
When everything is at its best.
Last flash of life before its done,
And everything stops to take a rest.
It is there you will see how life is meant to be.
You don’t have to strive, just stop and see.

“Just As We Spring to Life”

7/7/14

“Just As We Spring to Life”

Just as it was,
I felt the cotton, lush grass beneath my feet.
I felt the laughing breeze run its fingers through my hair.
Did you feel it?

I flew with the clouds in my hands.
That scent, it’s difficult to even explain.
The sun, smiling, shown soft, warm rays.
You had to have.

I knew it,
When I saw your face.
I knew you—
Belonged in that place.
I felt it.

We danced together.
The brisk river ran through my veins,
Like my waist dipping into chilly water.
You poured that cup into my eyes.
It felt like heaven.

We rode the clouds,
Side-by-side.
I held the sun—
To keep the day.
Please, say you did.

But, I felt the breeze go cold,
And the sun turned to the moon.
The clouds fell sick and cried.
No, I still felt it.

The streams fled into the jagged rocks,
And the grass crunched like paper beneath my feet.
The blue skies sighed as they fell away into the gray.
Where did you go?

I thought I knew,
I felt the sun.
That’s where we belonged.
That’s where we should have stayed.
It was lost, it fell away.

And just as we spring to life,
We grasp on the edges,
We feel the breeze,
And we feel it leave.
Then, you forget.

“The Genesis From Two”

7/7/14 - This is a poem based off of a story I am currently working on. It is about the creation of the universe.

“The Genesis From Two”

Before the beginning there was but one.
Suspended in that lonely ever flowing Void.
Separated in two as to not be so alone.
They lasted long but could only annoy.
Agitated, they began to fight,
Created a big burst of light.
And light, and time, and life came to exist.
Soon the worlds began to spin,
Grazed over by the shepherds that cared.
Like mud clumps we rolled up to live.
Each with breath,
And across the stars our brothers rest.
Until it’s final.
When the two reunite.
When life is retied.
Then it is done,
When we unify,
And life that becomes—
Comes to bide,
And bide alone—
Alone to come—
To become one.

"Natures Glory"

One of my older poems.

"Natures Glory"

Mightier than the lions roar,
Stronger than a tiger,
Its might surpasses that of the wolf,
The fierceness of the shark it belittles.
It is not the soldier,
But the shout of the King is it.
For it's strength surpasses even the sun,
It's elegance the moon,
The stars of the heavens hide their faces from it,
For even the mighty seas turn green with horror.
It's strike is sudden but silent,
Even the mighty oaks shiver with fear.
Light it is but fire it brings,
From the heavens it comes,
Then it is gone.
Where shall you be safe?
Where oh where will you hide?
For light it is but fire it bring,
The arrows of God,
Thundering Lightning.

"It is You, When Fantasies Come True"

3/9/14

"It is You, When Fantasies Come True"

Your words are soft,
They sacrifice me.
Your looks so bold,
And paralyzing.
With lips of red,
You tantalize me.
Your heart so tall,
And hypnotizing.
You saw to be,
And realized me.
Laying with you,
Is always flying.
With arms to hold,
They wrap around me.
Not just a dream,
I'm fantasizing.

“Just for Fun”

This poem is exactly what the title says, just for fun. It has a rhythm to it and is meant to be read fairly quickly. Written 1/13/14.

“Just for Fun”

I kinda wanna smoke something,
And I kinda wanna die.
I kinda wanna make believe,
And I kinda wanna lie.
I can’t do the impossible,
But I kinda wanna try.
I always try to look strong,
But I kinda wanna cry.
You always tell me to leave,
But I kinda wanna bide.
You can't see whatcha can’t see,
Cause I kinda hav’ta bribe.
Just please talk to me,
But I don’t wanna “bye.”

“A Brief Goodbye”

My newest poem. 01/05/2014.

“A Brief Goodbye”

String um, string um, string um high,
Like the corpses hang up in the sky.
Hold your breath and tear to your eye.
Spilling the truth, the truth did lie.

Bring um, bring um down below,
The carriage it carries the bodies in tow.
Walk to the stone, and love you show.
Hoping to greet them, a fine “hello.”

Steady, be ready, I promise to try.
I feel the feeling, a touch so nigh.
Won’t be the fever that takes tonight.
Whisper and say to you “goodbye.”

“A Vested Reproval”

This is my newest writing, 11/30/13.

Sonnet III
“A Vested Reproval”

Board me up, and blame me for your destitution.
Rob me blind. Bind me upon thy imbecilic stave.
Claim my life in hopes of inconsonant restitution.
Give my capital. Empty the cache I refractorily gave.
Tear me down, and hold to your complacent truth
Of which you pose your self-sustained accusations.
Pour the pitch -- indicative to your dearth of ruth.
Burn my body, show your reprobative satisfactions.
Befoul my name, perfidiously execrate my existence.
Debauch the thought; sway the sanctimonious booths.
Beleaguered, my soul shall show indomitable defiance.
Be the dissembler and desiccate my venerated blooth.
Spread the ashes of my constitution upon your execrable lie,
And I shall compose your consummate vexation until you die.

“A Sonnet for My Lady”

Here is my newest writing. This is my second sonnet. 11/10/13

Sonnet II
“A Sonnet for My Lady”

Make love to me oh sweet lady,
My passion is stronger than the Nile.
I’ll love you forever, never a maybe,
An innocent love just like a child.
If only with you I could dance --
You stole my mind in mid day-dream.
We’d swing together a fine romance,
We’d flow a smooth and peaceful stream.
There is a time when we must awake,
My heart is pierced by a dreadful lance.
I’ll dream again for heaven’s sake,
I’ll never forget your beautiful stance.
And I will hold you tight, and till the end of time,
If you hold me tonight, and promise me you’re mine.

"The Golden Immortals"

Here's another one.

"The Golden Immortals"

From my heart,
Verses the eternal burning damnation.
Your body torn apart,
Yet you dive without hesitation.
Hell's voice is that of riches,
Kindled in your eyes,
And your body twitches.
Buy into who dies,
And the burning witches.
You are not who tries,
Begging for the switches.
You're the one who hides,
To be the golden liches.
Your shadowed meditation,
Of the filthy dirt gold.
Money is your medication,
Yet still you grow old.
Gone into damnation,
For gold your body sold.

"Honest Dead"

Here's another of the older ones. Think, "Western."

"Honest Dead"

So when I die,
I won't have to think about that look in your eye.
And that thing you spoke,
As the blood was filling up your throat.
The reality that you were dead,
Really settled in my head.

So when I finally die,
I won't think about the look in your eye.
Now I'm talking to a dead man's grave.
Funny how they're the only ones that behave.
They don't speak up, or make a noise,
But I guess, they don't have a choice.

Well I won't remember that look in your eye,
If I ever do eventually die,
'Cause the living, they always lie.
And maybe one day I'll join your ranks,
It would be worth some thanks.
I've lived for far too long,
The Wild West is dead and gone.

So when I finally die,
I won't know that look in your eye.
You who I use to hate,
Something that was innate.
But now you are my only friend.
I'm as you, I must be dead.
For a dead man never lies,
But the living do, until they die.

"'Till The End"

Here's another short poem.

"'Till The End"

When life is leaving,
And death captains your ship.
You look back to think,
It was all such a blip.
You sail into nothing,
That is the end.
Farewell to you,
So long my friend.

"Cancer"

Here's another short poem.

"Cancer"

My sin is my cancer,
In which do I judge.
I try to remove it,
Yet it will not budge.
The sin of my Spirit,
The fat of my body,
It shall soon be gone,
No reason to fear it.
- Antonio G.

"Revenge"

Here is a short poem. Sometimes they're the strongest.

"Revenge"

Oh, I feel the knife stab my heart,
I watch the pillars crumble,
And my world fall apart.
It's hard to be humble,
When a trust is betrayed.
I'll bury you in the rubble,
You should not have stayed.

"Up From The Ashes"

Another earlier one.

"Up From The Ashes"

Like a Phoenix rises,
And has risen before.
A powerful people,
We will be once more.

A time of poverty,
Has been our haze.
But fair and majesty,
Is our future Days.

We've struggled to,
Undo the Hate.
And now we have,
Unsealed our fate.

We've striven for peace,
And all the while.
Now on our knees,
Fortune has smiled.

Now I say,
To you my friend.
Speak of peace,
And we will see no end.
- Antonio G.

"Day Unto Night"

Here's another of the earlier ones.

"Day Unto Night"

In blackness does,
The night seem long.
Yet the soonest is,
The day shall dawn.
Surrounded you will,
be filled with light.
No reason to cower,
No need for fright.
If the day passes,
So also the night.
You'll hold out,
With the littlest might.
You my love,
Will be alright.
Close your eyes,
I'm here tonight.

“The Writer's Creed”

Oct. 18, 2013

“The Writer's Creed”

I string words like a potter molds clay,
Like a taylor mends his suits,
Like a barber cuts hair.

I use emotions like a player throws the ball,
Like a musician plucks his strings,
Like a singer sings songs.

I fake feelings like the preacher says his prayers,
Like the lawyer defends the innocent,
Like the senate protects the people.

"Speak it to the Trees"

Finished Oct. 11, 2013. This began as a short story that stayed in verse as I continued writing it. It ended as more of a poem.

"Speak it to the Trees"

I’m glad. I’m glad. The Fall breeze rolls softly through my hair.
Gently, lofting, like grass tossing, pushing me into existence.
The soul wandering amongst the leafs.
Leaving, breathing, a newborn pond.

This pond so young, yet aged so long.
It has been a blanket for that Old Woman;
A willow, a widow since her roots had gone;
The man she once loved, now hidden in earth.

That old-young pond is a mirror, silvered in truth.
That widowed willow bends into its gaze.

In early morn’ a pure white shroud;
A curtain to hide in the solemn haze.
When the sun greets it, at the hight of the days,
The Old Woman is there; speaking, crying, sleeping away.
And when the moon comes to court it, the woman is there.
She slips out in darkness, concealing her ways.

The singers, they chirp. The music echoes far and wide.
I’d like to stay a bit longer to hear the climaxing song.
They flutter around me, bright brown and blue.
I love to watch them, and they know I do.

The branches dance above me;
The arms stretching, worshipping their Creator.
To experience this joy, ‘tis never a bore.

The quick, brisk smell of the forest so bright.
The breeze lapping and licking, I couldn’t care if it be day or night.
The solemn of the forest, never not; such a beautiful sight.

A squirrel runs before me;
His gaze so headstrong and true.
I knew he was there, and he knew I was too.
He scurried a bit, calmly searching the floor.
Then held up a stick and looked my way.
My heart fluttered at first, then calmed.
The squirrel didn’t mind me and continued his day.
As he hopped -- one, two, three -- up and onto a tree.

A rain drop come to lay on my head.
To look up, it was not; but a simple white dove.
That dove looked down at me, wanted my attention.
He turned ever so forward, redirecting my gaze.

Now a doe, across the way I see.
It was a lady; its step kept ever so daintily.
She did not shake, skimmer or scare.
That lady walked, as peaceful as pretty.

I hear a thrashing behind her;
A crackle, a break, a ruffle, a tussle, a moving, a quake!
Out to before, the commotion it jumps!
There it was, the small speckled fawn.
That lady smiled, laughing a grin.
Her baby, a child, began running again.
Happy, laughing, and tossing, whirling and twirling.
The child began.
His mama still walking, talking; her joy flashing from within.

Now I see, followed up from behind,
A tall crown; stood kingly and proud.
Walking but never; the strut flowed perfect and true.
Here came the buck; of the likeness no one ever knew.
He walked as if nothing else existed;
The air itself perfect in presence.
His gaze landed, only where he saw it fit.
So calm. So perfect. He was the king.
Always it was; no fear clouded his sight.

He came to the doe; king to his lady.
They rubbed heads together; proving a bond.
He walked there beside her; loving hand in hand.
The baby jumped before them; always playing again.
The buck jumped to, with the fawn.
They began playing; running and jumping to and fro.
The lady she smiled; shook her head in content.
So loving a family; and joyous they went.

The choir followed close behind; above and below.
The birds, the chirping, and squirrels are jumping.
This was peaceful; I wonder, the coming event.
All they head to that old-young pond.
They gather, surround; this family, not crowd.

Up to the Old Woman; the king, his lady and baby went.
They sat beside that widow as she withered away.
That Old Woman; the poor weeping, widowed willow, rotting and frayed.
She wasn’t alone; her family was there.
Gazing into the pond; they all would stare.
Solemn and silent; they knew why she was there.
Her late husband protected them so.
In return, they share the sorrow she sowed.
The breeze picked up; she brushed those so near.
Her stillness stirred, to know she was never alone.
Joyous in sorrow: her loving still loved.

Some turn to see me, and accept that I’m there.
I know they don’t mind it. I shall join them to be.

This forest, it is, such a beautiful sight.
Resting now, I think I’ll sleep here tonight.

"'Till Death is My Love"

Here's one of my earlier poems.

"'Till Death is My Love"

From friends and foes,
My love will never altar.
From East to West,
My mind will never change.

We live as life lives,
We laugh as life laughs,
We dream as life dreams.

For my life is not yours,
As my dreams are not yours,
Yet we live as one.

Time passes day by day,
Life goes day by day.
Dreams come,
Dreams go.
We agree,
So and so.
We share of one,
We live with fun.

I have my mind,
And you've yours.
Death has mercy,
Yet it wont grieve,
I say let it come,
For I wont leave.
- Antonio G.
